Artist Statement: This tree is in my backyard next to our pond. I thought it would make for a good photo because of the way it towers over everything around it. I think it conveys the feeling that the tree is a lone survivor amidst all the dead plants. It was hard for me to take this photo because we had a swing hanging in the tree beside it. I was able to get a good enough angle so that the tree was still centered in the image but the swing wasn't visible.
I took this photo because I loved how the sunset seemed to just barely peek out over the tree line. I also like how the oil painting color way enhanced the sunset colors. This area is off to the side of our driveway and is like a rectangle of trees. This image invokes a sense of calm in me because I can't hear the cars driving beside us. I was scared that my camera wouldn't pick up enough light to get a good photo but it ended up turning out better than I expected.
Artist Statement: This photo is of a creek that runs to my pond. I like how the oil painting makes it seem like to contrasting things are going on a once, summer and winter. I wanted the creek to be more visible in my images, so I ended up having to step a little into the woods to get past some annoying branches. I think this images conveys a sense of purpose. This is because that little creek has one gal in mind, and that's to go to the pond.
Artist Statement: I took this photo of some pine trees to the side of my house. I love how the sunset and the woods all seem to be pointing to the one big tree in the middle. It makes it seem like the whole universe wants us to know that that tree is important. In the oil painting I included two more trees that were in the area. This tree is a little unnatural and shaped oddly. When you look at it from a distance though, It looks like it has arms and its dancing to a beat.
This image is of a heavily forested area right by my house. I like how the trees all seem to be criss crossing everywhere. I think it makes the image feel complete because The branches are everywhere. In the oil painting the sky looks like it's daytime while the sunset is still going on. I wasn't sure how far to tilt the camera up, but I ended up tilting it up pretty far to include all the branches.
